The idea of vintage is pervasive within Galliano’s work, and he was one of the main British designers to reference history so openly, along with fellow London mavericks Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. This delicate pleated viscose dress evokes the refinement of the 1930s, but the shorter length is completely modern. With new fibers and interesting shapes, Galliano revived tradition to make it easy and effortless, adding a lightness of hand to everything he touched.
