Black velvet is a strong YSL signature, and Tom Ford couldn’t possibly ignore it in his collections for the House, especially after the success of his iconic Gucci red velvet suit in the mid-90s. If the fitted shape of the jacket is pure Ford in its sultry sex appeal, the ruffled front adds a touch of romanticism to an otherwise pared-down style. The hook-and-eye closures give a sense of mystery -and subtle elegance- to a restrained, yet feminine, garment.
