The years French designer Nicolas Ghesquière spent at the historical House of Balenciaga are truly iconic ones, as he managed to infuse the brand with a sense of relevance and modernity. This printed silk dress, which evokes the carefree attitude of the 1970s, is made contemporary through its use of a contrasting front panel, which plays with hybridity and the idea of the dress as a top. This level of abstraction is typical of Ghesquière’s work for the brand.
